Wages and sectors
Working in the green sector It is important that you become a member of 3F and the 3F unemployment fund, the moment you get a job. This way you are secured if you are cheated with respect to wages or suddenly laid off. If, for instance, you work in the agricultural sector or within gardening, the following rules apply for you

When you work in Denmark, the labour market is regulated by collective agreements. These agreements are the result of negotiations between employers and employees, represented by 3F.

3F works to ensure that you have fair working conditions and that you receive important benefits such as pension, paid holidays, sick pay, and a guaranteed minimum wage. It is crucial that your employer has entered into a collective agreement to ensure these protections.

Before accepting a job in Denmark, contact your local 3F branch. We can help you avoid positions with poor wages and working conditions.

It is important to keep a detailed log of your working hours. This will serve as documentation in case a dispute arises regarding your hours, ensuring you have accurate records to support any claims about your work time.

Wages

If you are covered by a collective agreement and employed within the green sector, you are – as a minimum – entitled to an hourly wage equal to DKK 158,17 (from 1 March 2025 DKK 163,92) if you are employed within the agricultural sector, or DKK 161,46 (from 1 March 2025 DKK 167,21) if you are employed within the gardening sector.

Please note that work outside the agreed work norm will entitle you to a higher overtime payment.

Holiday

Under Danish law, you are entitled to 5 weeks of paid holiday per year. If your employer has entered into a collective agreement, you may be eligible for extra holiday days.

If you have any questions or are unsure about your holiday rights, please contact your local 3F branch for assistance.

Pension

Employees within the green sector who work at a workplace covered by a collective agreement are entitled to a pension contribution equal to 12.99% of their wages. The employer will pay 10.66%, and the employee will pay 2.33% (since 1st of June 2024).

3F guarantees that your pension contributions will be paid into a pension account through PensionDanmark. Your pension plan also includes insurance and healthcare coverage, which will remain in effect as long as contributions continue to be made.
